On This Day: April 29 1983 - Something Wicked This Way Comes Premiered in Theaters
On this day April 29 1983, the fantasy horror film Something Wicked This Way Comes premiered in theaters. Directed by Jack Clayton and based on the novel by Ray Bradbury, the movie starred Jason Robards, Jonathan Pryce, Diane Ladd, and Pam Grier.

The story followed two young boys in a small town who discover that a mysterious traveling carnival hides dark secrets and offers dangerous temptations. With its eerie atmosphere and strong performances, the film captured the spirit of Bradbury’s original story, blending childhood wonder with real horror.

Despite its high expectations and a budget of 19 million dollars, the movie struggled at the box office and only brought in 8.4 million. Over the years it gained respect among fans of dark fantasy for its unique mood and timeless themes.

Fun fact: Ray Bradbury himself wrote the screenplay but the final cut of the movie was heavily altered by the studio leading to mixed feelings from the author.
