On This Day: April 28, 1989 - Jon Bon Jovi Marries Dorothea Hurley
On April 28, 1989, Jon Bon Jovi surprised everyone when he married his high school sweetheart Dorothea Hurley in a private ceremony at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. At the height of Bon Jovi’s global fame, the couple decided to slip away quietly without any major fanfare or media attention.

Their marriage has stood the test of time which is a rare thing in the entertainment world. More than three decades later, Jon and Dorothea are still happily married and often credit their strong bond to keeping their relationship private and grounded outside of the spotlight.

Fun fact: When Jon Bon Jovi got married, many people close to him including his record label were initially furious because they feared it might hurt his image with fans.
