On This Day: April 28, 1980 - Grateful Dead Releases Go to Heaven
On April 28, 1980, the Grateful Dead released their eleventh studio album Go to Heaven. This album marked a new era for the band with the addition of keyboardist Brent Mydland who brought a fresh sound and energy to their music.

Go to Heaven showed a cleaner and more polished production style compared to some of their earlier work, featuring tracks like Alabama Getaway and Saint of Circumstance. The album climbed to number 23 on the Billboard charts and while it received mixed reviews at the time it has grown in appreciation among fans for capturing the transition of the band into the 1980s.

Fun fact: Go to Heaven was the first Grateful Dead studio album released during the 1980s and was the last one until In the Dark in 1987.
