On This Day: April 23, 1987 - Death Angel Released The Ultra Violence
On this day April 23, 1987, Bay Area thrash band Death Angel released their debut album The Ultra Violence. Known for its speed, technical precision, and raw power, the album made a serious impact on the underground metal scene and became a cult favorite.

What made The Ultra Violence stand out wasn’t just its aggression but the age of the band members. Most of them were teenagers, and the album was recorded in just three days with a tight and relentless sound that rivaled more seasoned acts.

Though it didn’t chart on major lists, The Ultra Violence helped Death Angel gain respect across the thrash world and earned them a spot alongside other Bay Area giants emerging in the late 80s.

Fun fact: The album’s title was inspired by a phrase used in A Clockwork Orange.

Trivia question: What studio was used to record Death Angel’s debut album The Ultra Violence in only three days?
