On This Day: April 16, 1984 - Duran Duran Released The Reflex
On this day April 16, 1984, Duran Duran released The Reflex, a high energy single that became one of the band’s biggest global hits. The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 from June 23 to July 6 and also hit number 1 in the UK, Ireland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

The Reflex was known for its catchy chorus, futuristic production, and a remix by Nile Rodgers that helped give it an extra punch on radio and dance floors. Paired with a flashy concert style music video, the track showed off the band’s style, charisma, and mass appeal.

Coming off the success of their album Seven and the Ragged Tiger, The Reflex pushed Duran Duran to the peak of 80s pop stardom and helped define the sound of the era.

Fun fact: The Reflex was the first Duran Duran single to reach number 1 in the United States.

Trivia question: What 1984 Duran Duran hit reached number 1 in both the US and UK and featured a remix by Nile Rodgers?
