On This Day: April 15, 1988 - Racket Attack Released for the Nintendo Entertainment System
On this day April 15, 1988, Racket Attack was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America. Developed by TOSE and published by Jaleco, the tennis game gave players a chance to compete in intense singles and doubles matches with a mix of arcade fun and light strategy.

The game featured male and female players with different strengths, court types like grass and clay, and a full tournament mode. It was one of the earlier NES sports titles to try and simulate a real tennis experience, complete with umpire calls and animated crowd reactions.

While not as fast paced as later tennis games, Racket Attack carved out a place as a solid entry in the NES sports lineup and was praised for its smooth gameplay and variety of shot selections.

Fun fact: Racket Attack was originally released in Japan as Moero!! Pro Tennis and was part of Jaleco’s larger “Moero!!” sports series.

Trivia question: What 1988 NES tennis game featured multiple court types and was released as part of Jaleco’s Moero series in Japan?
