On This Day: April 15, 1988 - Kamen Rider Black Released on the Famicom
On this day April 15, 1988, Kamen Rider Black was released for the Famicom in Japan. Based on the popular tokusatsu series of the same name, the game let players step into the role of Kotaro Minami, also known as Kamen Rider Black, in a side scrolling action adventure filled with battles against the evil Gorgom organization.

The gameplay featured beat em up action with platforming elements as players fought through various stages and enemy types, eventually transforming into Kamen Rider Black to use special moves and take down powerful bosses. Fans of the show appreciated the character designs and soundtrack, which stayed true to the dark tone of the TV series.

While it never got an official release outside Japan, the game became a nostalgic favorite for fans of both the Famicom and the Kamen Rider franchise.

Fun fact: Kamen Rider Black was one of the first games based on a tokusatsu series that let players transform mid level, combining standard gameplay with signature hero power ups.

Trivia question: What 1988 Famicom game featured Kotaro Minami battling Gorgom as a transforming superhero based on a hit Japanese TV series?
